Soul Mate

What is that? Do we really have a person that is our perfect partner? Some people believe that soul mate exists and that doesn’t matter what, a person will be able to find him or her soul mate. However, is there just one soul mate? How do we know that we don’t have more that one perfect partner?
The idea of the soul mate comes from generations to generations bringing relief and dreams to people who always ask thins like “When will I fall in love?
That brings me the question what is love? Also, more important what happen if just one of the people needed in order to form a couple fall in love but the other doesn’t? Will that bring a chaos to one person that can’t forget a love?
Feeling is really complicate. There are not books or any class that teach us how to fall in love or how to continue our life after a break up. Is there a class called “Break up 2311” or “Fall in love again 2312”?
The interesting thing about that is that we like to have company; we love to have a partner. We enjoy and feel good knowing that there is someone who gets worry about us. A person that knows us, laugh with us and help us to stand up when we fall down that is why we always stand up again and look for another partner; that is way the cycle of life continue. However the hurt made by the real love, the scar made by her absence will never disappear.

Bushido, the Samurai's Way

Today, thanks to the internet and to better communication channels than in the past, people can be well informed about what is happening in the world. Also, a new revolutionary movement called globalization has emerged in the last decade. “Globalization refers to increasing global connectivity, integration and interdependence in the economic, social, technological, cultural, political, and ecological spheres.” (“Globalization”) These changes are positive in certain ways, but harmful in the cultural aspect. Globalization has almost eradicated some cultures from the world.
If a culture wants to survive in the globalization movement, that culture should be really attractive to its citizens. This is the case of Japan. However, why Japanese’s people are so traditionalists? Why do they have so much love for their cultural root?

My Goals

I like the challenge of learning. There is not goal that I can not reach if I put my mind into it. Ohio State University is going to be challenging, but I am looking forward to face this challenge. I like to find tools that will help me in the construction of my life. Tools, witch will help me intellectually and on my personal life and those tools that will help me to get my goals and ambitions.
I am very ambitions. I want to explore alternative ways of energy that do not produce pollution. I like cars since I was a child. Moreover, as a Boy Scout I learned to respect and appreciate the environment. Therefore, I want to work hard on developing vehicles which engines work with energy sources that does not produce pollution. It is well known that one of the biggest sources of pollution is the foci oil. It is forecasted that the petroleum reserves will decrease in a significant amount by the next decade. I strongly believe that the best way to ensure quality life, business success and progress for the coming decade is to find an alternative energy source for the automobile industry.

I enjoy helping others. It is rewarding to me when people smile and feel proud of them. I feel even better if I can help them to obtain their personal satisfaction, and this is why I always try to aid my friends when studying math and physics. I know that I have the abilities to understand a little better these materials than most of my friends. There are many people that get frustrated when studying these subjects and that is why it is always my pleasure to show them that all that they needed was a little help and to believe in themselves.
In my opinion, we came to this world this world in order to do for ourselves and for our family and friends. Something that when we look back on the end of ours life we can smile and say I had a wonderful life, and the moment for fix the road in the way to get these internal satisfaction is now.

The Last Movie

A movie about a guy who is to exact, he count everything. The steps from his house to the bus, the number of time he brush his tooth. He has the same routing for then years, until a day when he listen a voice narrating what he is doing or thinking. He starts to feel wear, well in fact he is wear. When he starts to hear the narrator’s voice, he visits a literature professor. The professor advices him to change his stile of live, on that way his live will be so bore that the narrator won’t be able to write something interesting about him. Also, advice him to determinate what kind of story was the guy part of, if was a comedy or if was a tragedy story. The guy didn’t get out of his house for a time. However, the tragedy visits him. Then he chooses to change his style of live completely, he stops to count the steps from his house to the bus, and also the times he brushes his tooth. He falls in love with a girl that is almost the complete opposite to him. He works for the IRS and she is against pay taxes. He discovers who is writer and asks her to please don’t kill him.
At the time he asks her to please don’t kill him, she was finally found the best way to kill him. Then she was on a dilemma, finish her work on a magisterial way killing a man in the way or finish her book on a regular or normal way. At the end she chooses to finish the book on a regular way and save the life of the man.
In that movie everyone change, and they learn that some changes are good. The man that always was counting everythin become softer and just enjoys the life. The writer stops to smoke a lot. The rest of them remember their child’s dreams and try to get them.
It is a movie that inspire us to change to get our dreams and that change is not so bad after all.

Why do we Have Government

Why do we have a government? What a government is good for? Like in a family where there is someone who leads, people choose to find someone who can guide them as a group. At the beginning the father was the one guiding the whole family, but countries got bigger and bigger. Then it was necessary to find someone able to be the head of the country. A really stupid guy came with the idea of the royal family, and that the kings or the pharaohs are the representation of God on earth. Thanks to that smart idea every country in the world was governed by a kind, a pharaoh, a Cesar, or whatever name they decided to put as the “representation of god”.
These first governments didn’t care about the people of their kingdoms. They just cared about themselves, which is something that have not changed, but on that time the injustice was more direct. Time went by and people started to think on another way of government. That is how the first congress was born. Congresses had the power of making some decisions and the original idea was to help poor people, but congresses were just more people who looked for their own interest.
The way to govern has improved with the time but the same idea remains. Individuals in control of everything in the past were called king, imperator, and pharaoh. Today they are called presidents, or dictators. The president is not more that a guy who is looking for his own interest and the interest of people who help him or her to be in power. Today, politics also have the congress. The congress has not improved as the presidents have. The basic idea is to lie and to bring promises to people that will never been fulfilled. As always, the most general opinion is the worst one, so all the politics that are selected by people are the most terrible ones.
Let’s be honest, it is hard to select a president or a politic who is suppose to fight for our best interests if we have never seen that person face to face. The worst thing is that candidates to the presidency are not in the same social or economical level as about 85% of the population is. Therefore, how do we expect that these presidents seek for the best of the greater number of people? I believe that the best business philosopher is Hobbes. In business, people only look for their own benefits. I apologize for breaking the bubble where many people live, but politic is business. What I want to say is that the individual chosen as the president, who is selected to represent the people and the country, will only represent his or her own interests. An example is the actual president, George W. Bush. Bush was elected president in order to do what is best for the country. USA is a country that has more than 301 millions of people, but Bush is only looking for the benefits of his family and people in the petroleum’s business. Bush the father tried to invade Iraq on 1991, but he failed. Then, Bush the son looked for any excuse in order to fulfill his father war’s desire, and he found the way. Also, in the Clinton’s administration, there was a global convenient about the reduction of CO2. However, Bush is not interested in this reduction because the main cause of the CO2 in the world derivates from the petroleum, and as we all know Bush loves petroleum.
As we can see, the government, in fact, doesn’t do anything good for its people, it just help the small group of individuals that are close to the person who is in power. The only right that the government offers to its people in a democrat system is to pay taxes and to vote for some corrupt candidates. At the end, that doesn’t help anyone. What is the best way of government? There is none. The only thing to do is to find a person that sometimes thinks more in others than in him or her first.

What is real?

What is real?
Are we here, or probably we are not? Is this essay an essay or is just part of my imagination? How will I know what is real and what is not? I asked to some people and their answers were, “Real is everything that you can touch”, “Real is everything that you can see”, or “Real is everything that you can fell”. In order to not contradict I didn’t argue their answers. However, when I was alone I thought. If real is everything that you can touch, the spaces is not real. Also, If real is everything that you can see, in the dark nothing is real. The last one was my favorite, if real is everything that you can feel, then the people who are more emotional, are more real that the people who are less emotional?
In The Matrix, the movie, according with Morpheus this world is not real. We live on a computer program, and our brains are the one witch put us limits. In other words, what is real, is what you think is real, and what is not real is what you think is not real. This perception of the reality was really useful for Neon at the end of the movie; Neon didn’t die because he didn’t believe that he was dead. If that is trust then just for think that my credit card’s bills are not real, will they disappear? Lets me try, these bills are not real, these bills are not real, these bills are not real, not sorry they are still real. When people doesn’t know how to understand or explain something the best answer is always the simples one. For example, in math if you don’t understand something you say that it is part of the infinity. Now what is the infinity, where is it localized, and how can you work with it? Looks like people do the same with the mind that they do with the infinity. When the philosophers try to understand what is real, they just answer it is in the mind. However, they didn’t understand what the mind is or where it is.
Looks like sometimes, the best theory is the one that can not be falsify. If you don’t believe me, you can related to the theory of denial by Sigmund Freud. Now, if real is in the mind, what is real for me should not be the same for you. Also, what make a book “A book”? When I born the book was a book already, and after my dead, it will continue been a book. Then, what make things what they are? Are there a unit-mind? Is there a whole mind that makes things what they are? The people, who are on mental institutions and have medical condition, probably see the reality more than the people who are not inside one of these centers.
Some philosophers that asked the same question like Plato or Aristotle had different answers. For Plato, real or ideas exist on separate reality. They are eternal then a tree is not real because it dies. For Aristotle, ideas exist on the physical object. At the end look like what is real or not just depend on what kind of drug you use. To illustrate, what kind of leaf you smoke. If you smoke a good one, your reality will be different as if you smoke a cheap one. I really don’t know what kind did Plato or Aristotle smoked. However, what I will do one day is visit Holland and ask to a guy on a Smoke-coffee what is real? Probably his answer will be better that mine because I just really don’t have an answer for what is real or what are I certain of.

Why am I Here?

Why am I here?

This is a small question with a big meaning. Martin Heidegger said that “some things are obscured by obviousness”, and look like this question is one of them. If I try to answer that question in a biology meaning, I can answer as “I am here because one day my parents by pleasure, or because they wanted another child conceived me.” However, that answer will finish just there, and won’t really go to the real meaning of my life. That small answer opens another question “How to live?” I am catholic, so I try to answer this question on a religion’s meaning. The answer that I got was “The roads of God are mysterious. Don’t try to understand then, just live on the best way possible, and always be ready for when God calls.” After think and without offence anyone or questioned my faith, I looked that answer as little bit empty. Yes, I will be ready to when God call me, and try to do what is good for me, for my family, and my friends. However, what will I do until God calls me?

At that point I was just stuck. I didn’t really answer the question, I just evaded it. I was probably asking the wrong question, or my mind was thinking on others thinks. Look like I am the kind of person that just accept the problems without question them. However, my friends told me that it is not truth, I am one of the people that questioned everything more that ones, and they are right.

This will probably looks like a strategic withdrawal, but I am just trying to answer this question on anther perspective. After re-read the first paragraph, I decided to answer the question “How to live?” This question looks easier to answer probably because I am the one who decided the way of live my life, or because I already have lived part of that answer. Advertence, this way of live is not the final one, but it is the one that I am using now.

I decided to move to USA, let on the past my friends, my life style, and in the process spend two whole years just learning English. The principle of equivalent trade in alchemist is simple, “in order to get something, you should sacrifice something of the equal value”. I sacrificed my old life in order to get a new one. On this new life, I will study hard. I will become a Mechanical Engineer and help the humanity to break the dependence of the petroleum. That will help the environment, and will help to create a better world for everyone. That is my dream, a dream that I need to create doing my best, especially on the college and university.

The life is not just work, is also share that is why I also try to become a better friend, and person. I am... well that is just another story.
